Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Details

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer develops and implements optimal, value-added mechanical designs and manufacturing methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create Mechanical Designs for automotive and metal fabricated sub-assemblies utilizing SolidWorks 3D solid modeling
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials; soliciting observations from operators and production staff
  • Ensure engineering drawings describe how to consistently reproduce the design and the engineering data conforms to the original design goals
  • Review listing of components for computed BOMs, SOLIDWORKS BOMs, weldment BOMs, and weldment cut lists to facilitate data export
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of bills of material (BOM) for manufactured and purchased parts used throughout the production process
  • Provide production, labor, and material cost reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, assembly methods, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing method
  • Assist in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control, and training
  • Carry out process improvement, problem resolution, and project management

Manufacturing Engineer

Job Details

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on our fabrication processes including but not limited to CAM/Plasma CNC table, forming, welding and grinding.  Developing, implementing and maintaining optimal, cost-effective processes and documentation will be the foundation of this role as well as process improvement, process documentation, quality initiatives and technology acquisition.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards
  • Confer with planning and engineering concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient manufacturability/production methods
  • Lead process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Evaluate equipment and tools for efficiency improvements, monitors OEE
  • Design and implement new tooling
  • Work with vendors to determine tool/technology specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, process methods, space requirements and layout
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Assist in quality improvement by documenting problems, determining root cause and implementing preventative measures
  • Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Troubleshoot part fitment issues and make recommendations for adjustments
  • Create and update Standard Work Instructions (SWI’s) for documentation of assembly and repair procedures
  • Carry out process improvement, problem resolution and project management in an effective and timely manner
  • Create and conduct process training for new and current employees

CAD Operator

Job Details

Job Summary:

The CAD Operator position develops and maintains Models and Drawings in accordance with manufacturing methods, product specifications, and quality standards. Improves legacy model health, as well as creates new models to the highest standard. This Individual will need to be self-motivated, and work proficiently as part of a team, as well as independently.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create/maintain 3D models for parts, weldments and assemblies utilizing SolidWorks 3D solid modeling.
  • Creates/maintains engineering drawings for production to consistently reproduce the design and verifies the engineering data conforms to the original design goals and department standards.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of Bills of Material (BOM) for manufactured and purchased parts used throughout the production process via PDM and internal ERP systems.

Plasma Operator

Job Details

Job Summary:

The Plasma Operator is responsible for the setup, operation and tending of the (CNC) Plasma Table and supporting equipment. He/she produces parts created using the plasma table while maintaining quality and safety standards.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Receive processing direction and nesting table from Engineering and Supervisor
  • Set up and operate plasma table to cut parts used in the creation of vehicles
  • Identify and verify proper gauge and type of steel to be cut
  • Load table by lifting steel into position using crane and various other lifting devices
  • Maintain specifications by observing plasma table cutting, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls
  • Replace worn consumables adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Examine cuts visually or by hand to verify quality and accuracy
  • Grind edges of material using a pneumatic grinder
  • Monitor instruments such as pressure gauges, indicators or meters to ensure optimum processing conditions
  • Maintain continuity by communicating and documenting actions, irregularities and ongoing need
  • Maintain all documentation including time sheets, and nest reports
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions, trouble shoot malfunctions and inform supervisor of problems and malfunctions that occur
  • Remove debris from machine by running slagger
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area
  • Identify abnormalities and repairs required as result of internal actions and advise the supervisor accordingly

Quality Control Manager

Job Details

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring that each vehicle is up to Lenco specifications during all steps in the manufacturing process up to and including the finished product. The Quality Control Manager enhances, implements and manages our quality control systems.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise, assist and direct the work of all Quality Control staff
  • Check accuracy of paperwork and records for incoming vehicles
  • Visually and manually inspect and test vehicles before, during and after the manufacturing process
  • Complete inspections within the shop area, parking area, on the road and in the quality control department to ensure road readiness
  • Test vehicles to ensure they are properly manufactured and that they meet all customer specifications
  • Accept and reject produced, both internally and vendor purchased, products as necessary
  • Partner with Production Manager, Production Supervisor and/or Crew Chief to achieve efficient repair
  • Complete all documentation including inspection sheets, certificates, and receipts applying signatures as appropriate
  • Identify abnormalities and provide repair orders as needed to the appropriate departments
  • Identify areas of process improvement, cost and waste reduction
  • Road test all vehicles
  • Undertake relevant training and development as required
  • Carry out work orders within a realistic timeline ensuring that deadlines are met

Production Mechanic

Job Details

Job Summary:

Assemble armored vehicles ensuring functionality of systems. Carry out electrical and mechanical assembly of components on painted trucks bodies. See vehicle through final inspection for customer delivery.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Run electrical wiring using in-house built and prebuilt wiring harnesses.
  • Install all interior and exterior lighting following workorders and Lenco standards.
  • Install exterior electronics such as thermal cameras, 360 camera systems, sirens etc.
  • Install exterior components such as ballistic glass, bumpers, hitches, roof turrets, gun ports, winches etc.
  • Install interior components such as seats, cabinets, benches, carpets etc.
  • Adhere to existing work practices, procedures and policies.
  • Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies.
  • Must own mechanics tool set in accordance to Lenco standard tool list.

 INTERACTION WITH:

  • Work with other teams on shop floor to ensure trucks are built on schedule.

 EXPERIENCE:

  • Three plus (3+) years in the automotive industry working on mechanical and electrical systems.

 EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma required
  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is plus

 CERTIFICATIONS:

  • ASE certification required. Preferred qualifications L2 or A6-A7 or E1-E3 or T6-T7. (preferred qualifications must be obtained within 1 yr. of employment)

Welder / Fabricator

Job Details

Job Summary:

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for performing a variety of welding involving fabrication, alteration, and repairs of metal parts.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Weld and fabricate metal components per drawing/prints and work orders
  • Layout fits and welds components for assembly based on pre-designed specifications
  • Grind off excess weld, slag or splatter, using hand scraper, power chipper or portable grinder, and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
  • Responsible for sound welds and accuracy of assembly
  • Observe and identify any fault in equipment, material and assembly process, then notifying supervisors
  • Control the processes of fitting burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheating and/or distortion of the parts
  • Clamping, holding, tack welding, heat bending, bolting, or grinding parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements
  • Requisition parts and equipment as necessary
  • Liaise with supervisor on problems to achieve efficient repair
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area
  • Complete all documentation including inspection sheets, certificates, and receipts applying signatures as appropriate

  • Layout fits and welds components for assembly based on pre-designed specifications
  • Grind off excess weld, slag or splatter, using hand scraper, power chipper or portable grinder, and is reviewed upon completion
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
  • Responsible for sound welds and accuracy of assembly
  • Observe, identify and notify supervisor of any fault in equipment, material and assembly process
  • Control the processes of fitting burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheating and/or distortion
  • Clamp, hold, tack weld, heat bend, bolt, or grind parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements
  • Build with extreme caution to avoid damage to OEM components
  • Requisition parts and equipment as necessary
  • Liaise with supervisor on problems to achieve efficient repair
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area
  • Complete all documentation including inspection sheets, certificates, and receipts applying signatures as appropriate
