According to Tasmania Police, the newly gifted vehicle will support specialist operations across the state, helping teams respond to incidents involving armed offenders, sieges, and other high-risk situations.

“The BearCat is bullet and blast resistant and is designed to support the safe deployment of specialist police, as well as the extraction of injured persons or members of the public from high risk environments.”
Built with mil-spec steel armor protection, the BearCat allows operators to move closer to dangerous scenes with greater protection while maintaining visibility, communication, and tactical flexibility. Its ability to transport 10–12 fully equipped personnel provides teams with protected deployment capability during critical incidents, while its mobility allows agencies to navigate varied operational environments and position resources where they are needed most.
